Research Prospectus Overview

  1. Hello Leslie,
Your research ‘Digital Literacy’ was well explained through your blog. I reflected on our experience in class with regards to digital literacy and all of your terms did apply to my experience. Your three questions were also interesting and made me think about how much more ‘digital natives’ are around us than we think. Thank you for explaining all your terms in a sequential manner. It helped me to follow your though process along this study.

  2. Leslie,

Your topic on digital literacy is important in today’s educational environment, especially with the demand of new technology. Your opening statement in the Wiki addresses the definition of digital literacy and how there are many facets when trying to explain what it is. Digital literacy is certainly an “intricate network of ideas” since it can become quite complicated with technology.
I like that you and your group discussed academic skills in regards to digital literacy because of the difference between traditional classroom settings and none-traditional settings. Describing the social skills of digital literacy is important as well because it is one of the main focuses of technology and education. Students will need to meet and chat with their teachers or peers via online. This will also allow for other opportunities outside of school and possibly into the future for jobs. It is common nowadays to have interviews over the computer and having an understanding about social skills through technology can be significant. Great work on this subject and Wiki.

  3. I think your Digital Literacy research proposal sounds very interesting. Many students are used to using their phones all the time. However, the skills and behavior that are appropriate for social media sites are definitely different from what they will need in education. Your proposal would make for an excellent dive into the connection between academic performance and digital literacy.
